Boy Scout Troop 100

WHO WE ARE

Boy Scout Troop 100, chartered to St. Joseph Catholic Church, was established in 1949 and is among the longest, continuously active troops in the Indian Waters Council. Troop 100 currently has 45 scouts with 6 active Eagles. The Troop has strong links to Cub Scout Pack 100 as well as Venture Crew 100, both also chartered to St. Joseph Church. Troop 100 is very much a youth led organization with an active PLC and BSA trained youth leadership. Troop 100's members are also very active in the Order of the Arrow's Muscogee Lodge 221, traditionally providing many chapter (Eluchaset #1) and lodge officers.

Troop 100 holds weekly troop meetings on Mondays at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph. We have an active camping schedule with 9-10 campouts per year plus a full week of Summer Camp. Troop 100 also maintains an active schedule of service projects which beneift the community including the American Legion, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Columbia Federation for the Blind and the Celebrate Freedom Foundation among many others. Recent Eagle Scout Leadership Projects have benefited local schools, churches, and shelters as well.

The Troop Committee meets the third Monday of each month (August - June) at 6:30 PM in the Parish House. Our Adults have a high degree of training with many having completed Wood Badge and several having staffed Wood Badge courses. All adults have BSA Youth Protection Training as well as VIRTUS certification. The adult leadership and troop committee are committed to providing the support needed to offer a quality, youth led program and are strong supporters of the BSA's Aims and Methods of Scouting including the Patrol Method.

NEWS

MAY 14-16, 2010 CAMPOUT

Our next campout will be May 14-16 at Lake Wateree. We will work on Fishing and Swimming. This is an important campout for Summer Camp prep and an opportunity to get swimming advancement and merit badge requirements knocked-out. Permission Slip.

 

WEST'S EAGLE PROJECT MAY 15

Not going on the Campout? Not going to the OA Ordeal? You can still get your dose of Scouting this weekend by helping out with West's Eagle Scout Service Project. 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Saturday, May 15, at Heathwood Hall School (3000 S Beltline Blvd) at the Alpine Tower Field. Lunch provided! Please bring work gloves.

 

SUMMER CAMP : JULY 11-17, 2010

INITIAL SUMMER CAMP FEES ARE DUE - 3 payments of $65 each. Please make checks payable to "Troop 100" and give to Mr. Sudduth or Mr. Wagner. This year promises to be an even better year with improved facilities and more and better Program. We are signing-up for merit badges NOW. Have a conflict with the Troop's week at camp? See Mr. Cartledge who can help you to arrange a different week at Camp a Provisional Scout attached to a neighboring Troop.

 

NEW YOUTH LEADERSHIP

Congratulations to T-Bone, our new SPL! In the next couple of weeks we should have all the Leadership Positions filled. Patrols should be choosing Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders. Please give the results to T-Bone.

 

KEEP YOUR DUES CURRENT

January 31 was our deadline for rechartering. If you have not yet payed your dues for 2010, please do so soon. Dues are $25 for youth and $10 for adults. Please make checks payable to "Troop 100."
